Most Provinces have enacted some sort of legislation about driving distractions, and here in Alberta we are subject to similar regulation. Section 114 of the Alberta Traffic Safety Act lays down the definitions of what is distracted driving, which also includes using a 2-way radio. However, regulation 113, which is an addendum to the act, contains a clause exempting anyone with a valid radio operators certificate to use a 2-way radio while driving. Note that this does not include cell phones, unless in a hands free mode.
